Leaving a Legacy Campaign
Leaving a Legacy is the church’s current capital campaign, designed to reduce debt, add new ministries, and enhance existing ministries - including a complete remodel of the Children’s Ministry check-in area. A message from Pastor Chris is included below.
Dear First Methodist Church Family,
We are fortunate when there are opportunities in our lives to pause and consider our legacy. What kind of world am I leaving to those who come after me? How will I be remembered? What signposts do I want to leave for the generations to come?
I am excited about the worthy effort you will find described in this publication: Leaving a Legacy. It equips our congregation to make the world a better place: more anchored in faith, more filled with hope, and more connected in love. The success of Leaving a Legacy is crucial to our mission of drawing, developing, and deploying people for Jesus.
I remember the day a big crane raised the cross on top of our new sanctuary. We were sending a message to our community about faith, hope and love. Since we opened the new worship space, we have witnessed the expansion of our impact in Geneseo and beyond.
Leaving a Legacy raises the goal of cutting our indebtedness in half. If we achieve this together, we are freeing up hundreds of thousands of dollars for our ministries for the coming years. It also moves us closer to the point where we can write “paid in full” on the house of God that we leave to those generations yet to come.
Another major thrust of Leaving a Legacy is funding the complete remodeling of our children’s check-in area to make it a magnetic and welcoming place for young families. Who knows? The next generation of leaders in our church may be soon attending our Sunday School or Little Green Apple Preschool.
I invite you to join me in praying about your part in Leaving a Legacy. Get involved in this great effort to secure a fruitful future for our church.
